Students of all backgrounds with a completed undergraduate degree are welcome to apply—no previous legal experience is necessary or expected.

We do not require GMAT, GRE or LSAT scores. International applicants must submit TOEFL scores of 90 or higher. International applicants will be required to send original transcripts from the school that issued their degree(s). If the transcripts are not written in English, they must be translated through World Education Services (WES).

Admissions Requirements

The following are required for admission into the M.S.L. programs:

  • Completed online application
  • Transcripts
  • Resume/CV. Your resume should include all of the following:
    • All post-secondary educational institutions you attended
    • All post-secondary school, paid employment of any kind
    • All volunteer or internship placements 
    • Special skills (i.e. language ability, professional certifications, professional licensures, etc).
  • Personal Statement. Your personal statement should be an essay about yourself or a significant experience you had. The personal statement is your opportunity to provide information not provided elsewhere in your application or transcripts and that you believe should be taken into account by Cardozo School of Law when considering your candidacy for acceptance into the M.S.L. program. Your essay should reflect solely your own work. Although neither a minimum or maximum length is imposed, a suggested length for your essay is two to three double-spaced pages. Statements that are significantly shorter or longer than this guideline should demonstrate exceptional writing and editing skills.
